Slava tebi bole preduboki!

Kralj je juče umro sivooki.

Jesensko i rujno beše veče -

Vrativši se, moj muž mirno reče:

"Doneše iz lova njega, znaš li,

Telo su mu uz stari dub našli.

Mlad je bio. Tuge kraljičine!

Osta seda iza noćne tmine."

Svoju lulu sa kamina skide

I na noćni posao otide.

Probudiću ćerčicu kraj mene

Da očice sive gledam njene.

Iza okna topola se njiše:

"Tvog kralja na zemlji nema više."
